As much as I don’t make resolutions anymore, there is something so refreshing about a New Year starting. It makes me excited, gives me hope, and makes me feel invincible. I love the excitement that everyone has about their goals, all the dreams being set, all the right intentions being made.
Before you start of continue your journey make sure you have a Reason big and strong enough that will keep you accountable when the excitement dwindles off, and it does, and it’s ok, it doesn’t mean we have given up on our goal, just that we need to accept that it doesn’t happen overnight and it will be an ongoing lifestyle that we will adapt to, as long as we keep our promise to ourselves to keep going, every day. This is why it is so important to have a schedule planned out.
With myself, I have to know what days I will work out, what time it will happen, I schedule appointments accordingly, or I change my work out, trying to never miss it, unless it’s an emergency. This sounds crazy to some people, but the truth is, if you don’t do it one day because something side tracked you, then it makes it easier to find other excuses on other days, and before you know it, you will have given up.
Don’t let that happen this year, take some time over the next few days, write our your REASON, make a vision board and hang it up somewhere you will see it every morning (mine is in my closet). I know some people that have 2 jars, one is empty and the other one has rocks in it, one rock equalling 1lb, the jars are labelled, lbs to lose, lbs lost, every time a 1lb is lost it gets put in the lbs lost jar.
I have a binder where I keep all my intentions, I use it as my food journal, and as my workout diary, my workouts are all put in there along with my meal plans for the week. It sits on my counter so I have easy access to it and as a reminder of my goals.
Be aware of how you speak to yourself and how you state your intentions/goals.
Use words such as I can, I will, I am, when you use these statements you minimize the chance of making an excuse when you are not feeling up to it, because you stated it as a positive strong affirmation.
Don’t use words such as I will try, I want too, as these will easily give your excuses validation and then you will sabotage your own goals.
So let’s get to it, give yourself the time to think about all this and apply what makes sense to you, my wish for you is that you find your inner strength, push through the hard days, love the good days, be patient, be kind and believe in yourself.
